FRENETIKA is out!


The Game Is Out!

Hello all! It's with extreme excitement that I can now say FRENETIKA is available to purchase and play!

This has been a rollercoaster of a project and I am immensely proud of the final result. This is technically a "solodev" game. I (Tyler) designed, coded, wrote, and marketed this game all on my own. However I'm a firm believer that no project is ever a fully solo endeavor. It takes support from those around you, generous collaborators, marketplace asset creators, and fans/playtesters giving feedback to help bring it all together.

So for all those who have either directly or indirectly impacted the development of FRENETIKA, THANK YOU! While the game is done and released, there is still more to come. After a bit of a break.

Postmortem Devlogs

First, I intend to post a handful of postmortem devlogs detailing how some of the systems in the game work. This, more than anything, is meant to be a documentation practice for myself. With that said, if it becomes interesting or useful to other gamedevs out there, then even better!

Feature Updates

Once I let the dust settle a bit and review feedback from the release, I intend to update the game with new features. These include:

  • New spells
  • New crystal fractals
  • New enemies
  • New offerings
  • New stages
  • New game modes (speedrun, endless)

I have far-long distant plans to release workshop support to allow community members to create their own stages...but I'm not ready to commit to that just yet. Stay tuned.

Known Issues

Finally here are some known issues in the current build. These I intend to patch in smaller updates over the next few weeks. If you do encounter things not listed (or features you'd like to see) please reach out!

  • Performance drop when multiple explosive skulls explode at the same time
  • Spell fire indication progress bar does not go away when reading from your book of spells
  • Sometimes Byst impact and trail effects appear at the stage origin
  • Occasional overlapping music tracks
  • Animation jitter when reading from book of spells
  • Rarely continuing to cast spells while inside shop
  • Continuing to cast spells once all enemies are killed in a stage
  • Flashing UI when entering the Eternal Library
  • Animation/teleportation wonkiness during the Osso final battle
  • Osso spell damage needs to be tuned
